The proposal along with the PC-1 for Gems and Jewellery Training and Processing Center at Malakand have been submitted to the relevant government departments for approval. The implementation phase for the same will start after getting the approval. |

Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Centers - Bahawalpur and Sukkur.
Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company is planning to establish Gems and Jewellery Training and Processing Centers at Bahawalpur and Sukkur. A feasibility study is being made and proposals along with the PC-1 for these two projects will soon be submitted to the relevant departments for approvals. |

Mobile Training Units |

PGJDC is immersed into training people on gems and jewellery in the far flung and remote villages and areas as well, where normally the cosmopolitan training facilities never exist. PGJDC in collaboration with USAID and the University of Engineering & Technology, has started the concept of Mobile Training Units in these areas. In the very near future PGJDC will have set up a considerable number of Mobile Training Units in such remote areas.
The purpose is to spread training and skill development for both male and especially the female gender at the community level and support them by reaching at their doorsteps. This is what one of the prime motives of PGJDC, which is to develop the deprived ones through training and skill development.

Diamond Cutting and Faceting setup in the country |

As part of its efforts in developing the Gems & Jewellery industry of Pakistan, PGDJC is also planning to set-up a Diamond cutting and faceting facility in the country.
At this stage the Company is exploring on getting international expertise and consultation on initiating such a setup, for which the Company is in contact with potential international diamond consultants around the world.

Mega Gem Bazaars in the country |

Further to regular Gem Bazaars that PGJDC organizes in the country, some mega Gem Bazaars are also being planned for country wide and international projection of our valuable precious and semi-precious stones. One such Gem Bazaar has already been organized in Islamabad in January 2011. The Company intends to continue this trend in Islamabad and other cities like Karachi and Lahore.

Assaying & Hallmarking |

Introduction of Assaying & Hallmarking is among the major initiatives that PGJDC is planning to embark. Assaying is the process of inspecting articles of gold/silver/platinum jewellery with respect to alloy composition and Hallmarking is the application of a series of marks onto precious metal jewellery which shows that the jewellery has been tested at an official Assay Office and found to conform to one of the accepted standards of fineness. The main objective of hallmarking is to facilitate trade while maintaining fair trade and consumer protection.
