Karachi, May 23: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) is organizing a series of training workshops for the exhibitors who would participate in proposed Gems and Jewellery Exhibition to be organized by PGJDC in Houston, USA.

Three training workshops have been planned by PGJDC out of which the first one started at common facility training and manufacturing centre in Karachi today. The workshop that is being attended by 23 exhibitors would continue for two days.

The second training workshop would be held in Karachi on 26 and 27th of May that would be attended by 22 exhibitors while the third and last workshop would be organized in Lahore at PGJDC’s common facility training and manufacturing centre. 16 exhibitors from gems and jewellery sector of Lahore would participate in that workshop.

Houston Exhibition, USA will be a Single Country – Single Sector exhibition organized jointly by PGJDC and PCC-USA. There are total 62 companies participating in Houston Exhibition, USA, out of which 10% representation will be from women entrepreneurs.

Chief Executive Officer PGJDC Fawad Khan said that the basic objective to conduct these workshops is to equip the participants of proposed Houston Gems and Jewellery Exhibition, USA with enough knowledge of marketing especially B2B marketing for gems and jewellery sector.

He said the basic idea is to enhance their understanding to capitalize the opportunities in the US market, understand consumption patterns of gems and jewellery in US and come up with creative and innovative products to cater to the needs of the market. The participants will be educated and trained to enhance their communication, carrying themselves in a better way and understand the market trends during the exhibition. Soft skills like time management, communication, listening and empathy will be imparted during the workshop.

Fawad said that these workshops will be of great importance as far as fulfilling the objectives of PGJDC for participating in international exhibition is concerned. These workshops will be the first of its own kind for imparting pre-exhibition knowledge for the participants, enabling them to equip themselves well in advance before participating in exhibition. Such workshops will set a positive trend in future for the Company and the Industry as far as a professional pre-exhibition preparation is concerned.

PGJDC will hold these workshops in its CFTMCs in two cities: Karachi (covering participants from Sindh and Balochistan) and Lahore (covering participants from Punjab and NWFP). IBA Karachi is facilitating these workshops for PGJDC.
