PGJDC establishes first GJTMC in Karachi!

Karachi, June 6: Pakistan gems and jewellery development company (PGJDC) has established country’s first Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Centre (GJTMC) in Saddar town Karachi.

Establishment of Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Centre (GJTMC) is the result of one of the core strategic initiatives of PGJDC, which is “raising value chain productivity.”

Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Centre is a unique idea to facilitate the gems and jewellery industry in technology up gradation, skills development of miners, gems processing and jewellery manufacturing through training and provision of required equipments and facilities.

Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Centre of Karachi is first of the four planned centers to be established by PGJDC. Such centers are also being established in Lahore, Gilgit and Quetta.

GJTMC would be used to provide trainings on gems and jewellery designing and manufacturing with dual exposure to traditional and latest state of the art machines like CAD/CAM technology. All these trainings for the industry would be free of cost to facilitate the industry.

These centers would provide state of the art training in cutting and polishing gemstones as well as common processing facilities in order to enhance the value of gemstones sold the local and international markets.

GJTMC would not only be used to impart technical training but industry can also use the machines to produce their big orders on latest machines by taking them on lease. These centers would equip the Industry with latest techniques and processes, as well as modernize mining practices to reduce wastage and improve quality of extracted gems that would result in increasing income of miners.
