“Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) awarded certificates to 95 students of 5 training courses on successful completion of their courses at Quetta on Saturday, 27th June 2009.
A ceremony was held at Quetta in this regard. Among these 95 students, 25 were female students. Provincial Minister, Ms. Raheela Durrani, was the chief guest of the event. While speaking on the occasion, Ms. Durrani reiterated government’s resolve to provide maximum support to Gems and Jewellery sector of Pakistan so that this sector could earn foreign exchange. She also expressed that Pakistan can earn millions of dollars by exporting its gemstone and jewellery after value addition and Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company is working in the same direction to provide technical assistance to the sector so that it could compete in international market.
The prime objective of this certificate distribution ceremony was to recognize the commitment and achievements of the participants who attended and successfully completed the training courses that were held recently in Quetta.”

Diamond Grading course is going to start from 24th March 2009 and will continue till 2nd April 2009. This training course will be conducted by Mr. Mansoor Usman, a Graduate Gemologist from Gemological Institute of America (GIA) USA; will be the instructor of these training programs. There will be 18 participants morning shift which includes one female and there are 15 participants in evening shift which includes one female as well.
Diamond Grading course enables the participants to understand the grading of diamonds with respect to their hue, cut, and blemishes. State-of-the-art equipments are used in such kind of courses to ascertain impartation of modern techniques. Many participants till today have benefited from the training courses of PGJDC. The training course will start from 4th November, 2008. The course will be conducted by Mr. Syed Ilyas Ali Shah, a gemologist of PGJDC. 20 participants have been registered for this training course. The duration of the course is 2 weeks.

October 21, 2008: “Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has arranged a training course on Diamond Grading in the premises of the Gems and Jewellery Training & Manufacturing Centre. (GJTMC), Lahore. Diamond Grading course provides participants an insight into categorization of diamonds with respect to their hue, weight, dimensions, etc, hence boiling down to their eventual valuation. Diamond Grading course will start from October 20, 2008 and will continue till November 01, 2008. Mr Mansoor Usman, a graduate in gemmology from Gemmological Institute of America – USA, is conducting this training course, which will be in morning and evening shifts each of three hours. Total 40 students have enrolled for the Diamond Grading course.
After successful completion of this training course in Karachi for previous 5 times, PGJDC is now commencing Diamond Grading course in Lahore for the very first time. This course is specifically intended to enhance skills and knowledge of the people in the sector related to diamonds and other precious stones.”

October 17, 2008: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) is conducting a two week’s training course on “Gemology - Gems Identification,” which has commenced from October 17, 2008 at its Gems and Jewellery Training & Manufacturing Centre (GJTMC) in Saddar, Karachi.
The prime objective of this course is to enhance the understanding of Gemology and the techniques and skills used in identifying synthetic, treated and real gemstones. This course is aimed to enable the participants get basic knowledge of Gemology and Gems Identification, enabling them to apply this knowledge and skills in their professional endeavors.
This training course is being conducted in Karachi for the first time. PGJDC has conducted this training course twice in Islamabad and it is also regularly conducting the same training course at its Gems and Jewellery Training & Manufacturing Centre (GJTMC) in Gilgit. Mr. Mohammad Ali, Gemologist from GIA – USA is conducting this course in Karachi.

September 23, 2008: “Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) arranged a training program in Gilgit. This training program includes a short course of 2 weeks duration on Gemology with 6 female and 13 male participants, Gemstone Faceting course of 6 weeks duration with 2 female and 7 male participants and Gems Carving course of 6 weeks duration with 6 female and 4 male participants. This training program started from September 08, 2008. Mr. Abdul Rehman, a gemologist of PGJDC, is conducting this training program.
A training program in Gemology and many other training courses arranged by PGJDC, in far-flung towns like Gilgit, indicates the authenticity of efforts and endeavors PGJDC is taking to lead the gems and jewellery sector to Olympian heights.”

September 03, 2008: “Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has started a training course on Gemstone Faceting today in Abbotabad. The duration of the course is 4 weeks and timings are from 9am to 5pm. 10 participants will be facilitated and trained about Gemstone Faceting through this course. Mr. Muhammad Afzal Khan, a Science Graduate with extensive experience in Lapidary, is conducting this training course.
In these 4 weeks, the participants will go through the comprehensive knowledge of gemstone faceting techniques, right from the sequencing to finishing and polishing.”

August 12, 2008: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has arranged a training course on “Gem Identification” at Geoscience Laboratories, Islamabad. The duration of this training course is 10 days, starting from August 12, 2008. The timings of this course will be from 9:30 am to 01:30 pm. Mr. Ilyas Shah, a gemologist of PGJDC, and Dr. Tehseen, from Geoscience Laboratories, are conducting this training course. 20 participants have enrolled for Gem Identification training course.
Training program is being held to create awareness of gemstone identification with the help of different instruments and of gemstone classification in terms of natural, synthetic, manmade or assembled.
PGJDC has previously organized similar program on “Gem Identification” at Geosciences Laboratories. A second program in this short period of time confirms the infallible intentions of PGJDC towards equipping the gems and jewellery trade members with modern technology.

August 06: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has started a three days training course on Diamond Grading today in its Gem Exchange and Gem Identification Lab in Quetta. The timings of the course will be from 10am to 1pm. Total number of participants will be 20. Mr. Abdul Naeem, Gemologist, PGJDC, Quetta will conduct this course. Mr. Naeem has completed his Accredited Gemologist Diploma Program (A.G.) from AIGS Thailand.
The rationale of conducting this course is to familiarize the local industry with latest diamond grading techniques and creating awareness of latest equipments.
PGJDC is organizing the training program for the first time in Gem Exchange & Gemstone Identification Lab in Quetta, which has been established as one of the major projects of PGJDC with the objective to provide a platform for gemstone industry with modern lab facilities through gemstone identification lab.

July 13: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has arranged a one month training program from 22nd July 2008 on ‘Manual Jewellery Designing’ for ladies at Gems and Jewellery Training and Manufacturing Center (GJTMC) Lahore. 21 Ladies are being trained through this course. Following PGJDC’s policy to maximize training benefits to the gems and Jewellery industry, PGJDC has organized this course free of cost for all the participants.
A diverse array of participants, ranging from 16 years to 57 years old ladies have shown interest in this training program. The course is going to cover important concepts like manual coloring, silver metal coloring, image sketching, gold composition and colors variation, transparent and nontransparent gems stones and usage, structure guides, pearls making etc. Ms. Sumera Malik from Pakistan School of Fashion Design is the resource trainer for this course.

Karachi, May 17: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company has awarded 131 Jewellery Designing Training Certificates to Jewellery Designing students who participated in 5 different Jewellery and Diamond training courses organized by Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company.
In this regard an Award distribution ceremony was held at a local hotel today where apart from awarding 131 certificates to the students, PGJDC also awarded 7 top achievers with the special prizes. Other than the training programs certificates, PGJDC also awarded shields to the exhibitors of Jewellery Collections, Dubai held in December 2007. Amongst other 15 women also got their certificates on successful completion of their courses.
