“Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) organized a seminar on Monday 12th October, 2009 at Islamabad. The seminar, titled “Assaying and Refining” was aimed at improving the quality of products developed by Gems & Jewellery industry of Pakistan. Mr. Abdul Sattar, a renowned precious metal consultant, was the chief speaker in the event. Mr. Sattar insisted on quality assessment and Hallmarking of jewellery without which improvement in performance of the industry is not possible.

Twenty two participants from different fields of Gems & Jewellery industry attended this seminar was great enthusiasm. Mr. Abdul Sattar explained various processes and techniques used in gold refining and assaying.

The seminar is an effort by PGJDC to bring awareness among the value chain of jewellery manufacturing industry of the country with regards to quality, refining, purity, impurities, precious metals (gold) and base metals in composition.”
