August 12, 2008: Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) led a delegation of experienced and talented businessmen of the gems and jewellery industry of Pakistan to attend the India International Jewellery Show 2008 (IIJS Mumbai 2008), which was organized in Mumbai from 7th to 11th August 2008. PGJDC has been regularly sending delegation to the IIJS Mumbai and Goa.
Ms. Ambarine Bukharey, Member Board of Directors, PGJDC who was also the Coordinator for the Pakistani Delegation to IIJS, said, “A great demand for Pakistani gemstones, mineral specimen and traditional Pakistani stone studded jewellery has been re-discovered in the IIJS this year. Indians love Pakistani gemstones and traditional stone studded jewellery (jarao jewellery).” She further added, “Having learnt about the great amount of efforts that PGJDC is putting in for the development of the gems and jewellery industry, especially in the areas of improving lapidary skills, mining and technology up-gradation of gemstones, Indians are fascinated to explore and move further in doing business with our gemstone sector.”
Mr. Mutiullah, Chairman PGJDC said, “PGJDC is committed to enhancing the capacity of the gemstones sector on a continuous basis. On the way to realizing its vision, PGJDC’s recent endeavors reflect this commitment in the form of its recent milestones, such as establishment of Gem Exchanges & Gemstone Identification Labs in Peshawar and Quetta with the purpose of providing a lucrative platform for the buyers and sellers of the gemstone sector at all fronts including export and trade facilitation and fully functioned gemstone laboratory.”
Mr. Fawad H. Khan, CEO PGDJC said, “Attending IIJS Mumbai 2008 is a great opportunity for the Pakistani gems and jewellery industry to explore new horizons for trade and investments between two countries. PGJDC has been attending international exhibitions and trade shows either as participant/exhibitor or delegation regularly. PGJDC’s commitment to give the industry maximum exposure to the international markets is evident in participation in international shows such as IIJS Mumbai 2008.”
