“Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) participated in the annual Dubai International Jewellery Week (4th – 7th November 2009) for the third time in a row. Previously PGJDC participated in the Dubai International Jewellery Week in the year 2007 and 2008. This third consecutive visit to the exhibition is a part of the process of broadening the exposure of the Gems & Jewellery industry of Pakistan continuously.

Dubai International Jewellery Week started from 4th November and continued till 7th November 2009. PGJDC organized the well-known Pakistan Pavilion in the Dubai exhibition. In Pakistan Pavilion, 10 companies from the Gems & Jewellery industry of Pakistan displayed their products brought from different regions of the country. These products were displayed under the brand name “Gems & Jewellery – Pakistan”. These exhibiting companies belonged to Karachi, Peshawar, Hyderabad and Gilgit - Baltistan.

PGJDC also facilitated a Pakistan delegation of 10 delegates from the industry. This delegation benefited from the experience of establishing business to business (B2B) linkages with their counterparts in the Middle East.

Dubai, being the hub of international trade, fascinates the buyers and sellers from all over the globe and this enormous leg traffic of international buyers brings diversity in taste and preferences. This diversity in buyer taste complements the variety of Pakistani jewellery. Middle Eastern market has always been crucial to the Gems & Jewellery industry of Pakistan for the homogeneity in tastes and cultures which have been established in UAE. Pakistani jewellery, in its various delightful forms, attracts masses of population in UAE. The Middle Eastern market for Gems & Jewellery is a consequential target market for the flourishing Gems & Jewellery trade sector of Pakistan and its potential can be effectively utilized in order to bring on par, the local industry with the leading industries of the world.”
