Gem Bazaar, an innovative concept brought forward by Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company, has achieved meteoric popularity in a very short span. It has done wonders in terms of bringing together the number of buyers and sellers of gemstones under one roof. This unique event of Gem Bazaar takes place on a regular basis at the Company's Gem Exchanges in Peshawar and Quetta.

Gem Bazaar is a unique concept where buyers and sellers meet and engage in gemstone trade under a single roof. It has been brought forward to expedite and substantiate the local trade among the trade members of gem sector. The availability of Gemstone Identification Laboratory ensures transparent and fair trade of precious/semi-precious gemstones and mineral specimens which are brought in from all across the country.

These Gem Bazaars have provided the gem dealers and buyers with a lucrative platform, to meet and wrap-up business deals in the most transparent and fair environment. The idea behind introducing Gem Bazaar is to build and enhance the value chain productivity resulting in the increase of business relationships between the buyers and sellers. In January 2012, PGJDC organized the second mega Gem Bazaar in Islamabad which was held from 21st to 23rd January 2012. Gem Bazaar Islamabad was a great success in terms of leg traffic especially from the foreigners including Diplomats and their families, foreign visitors, local elites, Govt officials, etc.

The Gem Bazaar was inaugurated by the Honorable Chairperson of PGJDC, Senator Semeen Siddiqui and the Federal Secretary for Production, Mr. Gul Muhammad Rind, who expressed their profound happiness over the continuous success of PGJDC in providing exceptional support to the gems and jewellery sector and especially the platform of Gem Bazaar to further enhance the value chain productivity.

Altogether there were more than 200 companies from all across Pakistan participated as exhibitors in the Gem Bazaar. They were from Gilgit Baltistan, Peshawar, Quetta, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, etc. The exhibitors had tremendous business - short term and long term and developed links with the international buyers.
