Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) was established in 2006 as a subsidiary of Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), working under the Ministry of Industries & Production, Government of Pakistan. The charter of the Company is to enhance the value chain productivity of gems and jewellery industry of Pakistan from Mine to Market.
The Company aims to enhance exports through Skill Development, Technology Up-gradation, Quality Assurance and Marketing/Branding initiatives. Another Certificate Distribution Ceremony was organized at Officers Club Quetta on 26th July, 2016 to award certificates to the passed out students of the training programs held at GJTMC Quetta in collaboration with NAVTTC. In addition, certificates were also awarded to the students of regular training programs organized by GJTMC Quetta. Honorable speaker Balochistan Assembly Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani was the Chief Guest at the Ceremony.
While speaking during the event, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company highlighted the activities of the company especially in Quetta and Balochistan as a whole. They said that it was due to the concerted efforts of the company that the local sector is enlightened about latest trends and techniques adopted for gems and jewellery product development prevailing in the modern world today.
Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani appreciated the efforts of the company geared towards the development and uplift of the sector in Balochistan and the Country as a whole. She emphasized that the company should continue its efforts for the development of the sector so that this sector could play its due role in improving the economic condition of the country. She urged the private sector stakeholders to get state-of-the-art training on modern machinery and equipment under the supervision of well qualified instructors of GJTMC Quetta. A Certificate Distribution Ceremony was organized at Archives and Library Hall Peshawar on 22nd September, 2016. Miss Anisa Zeb Tahir Kheli, the Provincial Minister for Mineral Development and Labour Department Govt. of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the Chief Guest at the event.
During the ceremony certificates were awarded to the students who had successfully completed training in different disciplines of gems and jewellery from GJTMC Peshawar either through regular training programmes or in collaboration with different partner organizations including FATA-DA and NAVTTC.
Mr. Bakhtiar Khan Chief Executive Officer, PGJDC welcomed all the guests and shed light on the activities of the Company in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa especially in Peshawar, which have led towards the development of gems and jewellery sector of the province.
The Honorable Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the Company for the development of the sector. She ensured her full support for the Company’s endeavors and stated that she will visit the training centre Peshawar to explore the possibilities of collaboration between Mines and Mineral Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and PGJDC for the betterment of the sector.
