Message from the Chief Executive Officer
PGJDC is a monolith; a family with striking diversity enjoying vast pool of talent, creativity, ingenuity, knowledge and skills.
However, it is essential for all of us to ensure that such admirable qualities of our top of the line academicians and instructors, supported by state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, are inculcated in the budding Pakistani youth aspiring to join Gem and Jewellery Industry in Pakistan.
It is my pleasure to share some of the important milestones of PGJDC, achieved in a very short period with the grace of Allah Almighty and with continuous support and guidance from the Gems and Jewellery Sector and the Federal Ministry of Production. The Company has established fully functional Training Centers in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Gilgit, whereas Gem Exchanges are established in Peshawar and Quetta, and Gem Labs in Karachi, Lahore, Gilgit, Peshawar and Quetta. We have trained more than 5000 individuals across the country in the areas of gems and jewellery through more than 350 training programs. The Company is playing a vital role in promoting the Gems & Jewellery industry in the international markets through participation in different international shows in major countries including USA, Germany, UAE, Hong Kong and Thailand, and has so far organized 24 Gem Bazaars in Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta to create enabling environment for Gems and Jewellery trade and exports.
PGJDC is working to seek affiliation from different technical boards. Affiliation of courses taught at Karachi training center with Sindh Board of Technical Education is completed. PGJDC affiliation with TEVTA Punjab is in process.
One year post graduate diploma programs in jewellery designing and manufacturing have been started at Karachi and Lahore.
However, this is not what we want to settle for. The idea is to move forward with more rigor and commitment. Our future plans include setting up of training centers in Sargodha, Azad Kashmir, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Multan and Sukkur; Gem Processing, Mining and Training centers in Abbottabad, Chillas, Chitral, Gizir and Skardu; Assaying and Hallmarking Centers in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Multan; Business Development Centers in Karachi, Islamabad and Gilgit; and a Gem Exchange in Karachi.
I believe, through concerted efforts, team work, continuous support from industry, coupled with dynamic marketing strategy, we would be able to achieve our goals and uplift the industry leading towards value addition and exports.
